Automatic Abstract Painting: Inspired by the Dadaists and Surrealists

I love automatic painting and drawing, supressing conscious control over the mark making and seeing what happens. This is my automatic abstract painting triptych Inspired by the Dadaists and Surrealists automatic painting and drawing.

I love automatic painting and drawing, supressing conscious control over the mark making and seeing what happens. It was a process some of the Dadaists and Surrealists (to express the subconscious) used to create some of their artwork (Wikipedia, 2022).

I wanted to create a triptych and after measuring the inner parts in my window mount and masking off borders on some acrylic paper I was off. Lots of mixing colours, applying and then scratching in until I ended up with this…
